Privacy policy
Short version: if you only read HypeSkeptics, we collect nothing about you. No analytics, no advertising trackers, no cookies. The rest of this page covers the few cases where you give us something yourself.
Reading the site
We run no analytics and no third party scripts. Fonts and images are served from our own server, so opening a page does not tell Google or anyone else that you were here.
Like any web server, ours keeps a short technical log of requests (IP address, page and browser) so we can keep the site running and block abuse. Those logs are deleted automatically after about two weeks and are never used to profile anyone.
Accounts and comments
You only need an account to comment or vote on comments. If you create one with email, we store your email address, a password (kept as a one way hash, which we cannot read), the display name you choose and the comments you post. Your email is never shown to anyone. Your display name and your comments are public.
If you sign in with Google instead, Google tells us your email address, your name and your profile picture. We use the email to identify your account. Your Google name and picture are never shown: you get a generated display name and choose your own. We never see your Google password.
When you like or dislike a comment we store that vote against your account, so you cannot vote twice. Other readers only see the totals, never who voted.
Accounts are handled by Supabase, the database service the site runs on. They store the data on our behalf and do not use it for anything else.
Contact form
When you write to us, your name, email and message are sent straight to our inbox through Resend, an email delivery service. Nothing is kept on this site. We use your email only to answer you.
What we never do
- Sell, rent or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
- Send newsletters or marketing email you did not ask for.
- Track you across other sites.
Your rights
You can change your email, password and display name from your profile at any time. To delete your account and every comment and vote attached to it, or to ask what we hold about you, write to us through the contact page and we will do it.
Changes
If we ever add advertising, product links or analytics, this page and the cookie policy will say so before it goes live.
